ABOUT DR. BARRETT
Dr. Van Barrett, originally from West Chester, PA earned his Bachelor degree in Kinesiology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2016. In 2020 he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Gannon University. Dr. Van created Titan Physio and Sports Performance because of his passion for working with combat athletes such as wrestlers, jiu jitsu grapplers and boxers. Prior to Titan Physio, Dr. Van worked in the Outpatient Orthopedics setting for 3 years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before deciding to make the move back to Chester County. Growing up, Dr. Van wrestled from the young age of 10 and continued with the sport for 10 years. He has participated in Muay Thai as well as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. With this background he is familiar with the demands of the sport and where athletes need to be physically and mentally to be successful. Dr. Van received his Direct Access License in the summer of 2022, which allows him to treat patients without a doctor referral. Dr. Van enjoys treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal diagnoses and loves helping patients improve their quality of life and achieve their goals. Dr. Van received his Certificate in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT) from the Nxt Gen Institute of Physical Therapy in 2021. The foundation of the COMT series follows the concept of understanding how to positively impact the human movement system through a logical, clinical decision-making model. This advanced training allows him the ability to provide thorough and detailed examinations that guide the development of an individualized plan of care and apply the most appropriate and evidence-based manual therapy interventions. He is regularly seeking out continuing education and studying research, to ensure that he is providing the best care for his patients. In 2023 Dr. Van took courses from Dan Pope and Mike Piekarski, learning how to effectively rehab/treat the weight lifting athlete as well as rehab/treat the Jiu Jitsu athlete. Outside of work, Dr. Van enjoys finding new places to eat with his wife, working out, and spending time with family and friends.
